Alessandro Lion began in 1966 to learn the art of gilding, when he was fourteen, apprenticed to the master Angelini in Venice. He went on as a gilder and had his own workshop in Venice and later in Pennabilli for some years, he also devoted himself to restoration. He lives with his family in Valmarecchia since 1985. In the late seventies he started to apply gilding to glass, using leaves of gold and of various metals, thus obtaining very special mirrors. These mirrors, associated with his picture frames, become original furniture items. Alessandro is a sociable person and is always happy to meet people interested in his work and in the artisan culture he grew in, too often today likely to be forgotten.
